We open today’s programme with Arthur Girling walking round Copenhagen’s squatted district Christiana with Tina Yanam. Tom and Arthur file a report on the Danish police unwarranted and heavy-handed disruption of the party in the Christiana Big Top that was designed to raise people’s spirits in advance of today’s action and where Naomi Klein was one of the speakers. To highlight the malign role of corporate lobbyists at the UN climate talks, a number of NGOs have created the Angry Mermaid Award. We bring you highlights of yesterday’s award ceremony. We have a brief interview with Pablo Solon, the Bolivian ambassador to the UN where he reveals that as of two days ago the entire G77+China is now supporting their Climate Debt proposal. The US envoy Todd Stern apparently reacted to this with some disdain in a press conference yesterday and none of the rich have put anything on the table that would go anyway towards meeting this demand. Hence the talks are in crisis. At a joint press conference yesterday the civil society groupings Climate Justice Now! and Climate Justice Action announced today’s day of non-violent civil disobedience which they are calling Reclaim Power. We have an edit of some of the voices from that press conference and we end with an interview by Tom Besley with director of The Third Pole in Tibet.

Hi everybody at this great radio,
My deepest thanks to you for being there in Copenhagen and presenting the highlights from COP15 and Climaforum09! Especially to Arthur whom I met at a Bottom meeting in Christiania, bringing your radio to my knowledge.
Having heard myself (christ, I´m laughing to much and stupidly….;)) for the first time after the forum, I realize how important your work is. Not only as a reminder of what did happen, but also this makes it possible to tune into this empowering energi of thousands of people whom against all odds are creating new ways of living, opposing global terror on earth and people with strenght and grace.
After having heard of Gaia education on a Bottom-meeting at Christiania, I got inspired to join their program in e-learning through their Gaia University. And to brush up my french, seek partners (Danida for money and Bornefonden who makes programs for sponsered children like mine in Benin) for a project in western Africa trying to make “Gaia-wisdom” and tools available for rural people if they choose to do so. I´m a teacher, physical therapist, healer, non-violence mediator and former Fair-trade shop-keeper. In Denmark I´m just an unemployed single mother with a lot of education, that at the present time seems to be worthless in my own society. After climaforum I´ve got loaded with new energi. Wouldn´t it be great if I could write you in a year or so – presenting a picture on how people really did inspire each other to change the world step by step in a more just and healthy way? Of course I don´t know if I´ll be creating my sweet spot where it´ll work out. But if it does – and you should be interested in a story like that, please tell me. I hope you continue to get your climateradio going strong and deep, good luck, love Tine Jarnum
